It all started with a simple giveaway contest. Back when I first started Emily Person Photography, I hosted a photo session giveaway which Holly entered and won. Little did I know that this random winner would become my real life friend! Client-friendships in my photography journey have not only enriched my life but have also deeply impacted the way I approach my work, helping me understand and develop the connection between genuine relationships and the art of capturing memories.
When Holly won her first session in the giveaway, she and her now husband Dakoda had just gotten engaged and were planning their wedding. Holly is absolutely a joy to be around, and we hit it off right away! After shooting her engagement pictures, Holly booked me to shoot her wedding as well. I was honored, because Holly and Dakoda’s wedding was my first wedding as primary photographer. When my son was born in May, I texted Holly his sweet newborn pictures and she celebrated with me. And this past weekend, we celebrated Holly and Dakoda’s first wedding anniversary with updated photos!
Following clients through their milestones is like embarking on an adventure together, where we're not just photographer and subjects, but friends sharing the twists and turns of life. It's about being there to capture the joy of engagement, the magic of weddings, the anticipation of parenthood, and all those precious moments in between. It's the kind of connection that goes beyond clicking the shutter; it's about sharing stories, laughter, and creating lasting memories together.
I am so thankful that my path crossed with Holly and Dakoda, and for their continued trust over the years. Here’s to many more years filled with many more precious memories! If you are in the market for a photographer that does more than just shows up to take your pictures, fill out my contact form below and let's chat!
